DIY Sewing Tutorial: How to Make a Cute Easter Bunny Bag

Looking for a fun and original activity for Easter? If, like us, you’re a bit of a sweet tooth and love playful crafts, Easter is the perfect excuse to get creative!

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to make a small bunny-shaped fabric bag perfect for hiding eggs or little surprises in the garden. Kids (and grown-ups!) will love it.

Materials Needed

To make your bunny egg bag, you'll need:

  • Pinking shears

  • Sewing thread (choose colors that match your fabric)

  • String or yarn (max. 40 cm per bunny)

  • Fabric marker (to draw eyes and nose)

  • Fabric scraps or fat quarters (see our fabric selection here)

  • Optional: snap buttons (can be used for eyes)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Draw or Download the Bunny Template

You can draw your own bunny shape (you’ll find many models online), or download ours here:

Step 2: Add the Face

Draw the eyes and nose with your fabric marker. Feel free to get creative or let the kids decorate them with their own faces!
Then, cut out two identical bunny shapes and sew them together, leaving an opening between the ears so you can insert eggs or treats later.

Step 3: Finish the Edges

We used pinking shears to give the edges a fun finish and prevent fraying.

Step 4: Fill and Tie

Now fill the bunny pouch with candy, hair accessories, or scrunchies, then tie the ears together with a cord or yarn.

Step 5: Hide the Bunny Bags

Hide your little bunnies in the garden (or around the house) and let the egg hunt begin!
