Malo Bag Tutorial in Partnership with Petit Patron

I’m so excited to introduce you today to our new sewing partner: Petit Patron – a lovely website offering a wide range of sewing patterns! You'll find clothing patterns for all ages and skill levels, as well as trendy accessory patterns.

They’ve kindly allowed me to share one of their patterns with you: the Malo Bag. It's a soft fabric bag, larger than our classic PPMC fabric tote bag. This is a perfect beginner project, as it’s quick and easy to sew. The Malo fabric bag has quickly become my everyday essential. Foldable and compact, it fits in your handbag and becomes the perfect shopping companion, workout buddy, or beach day sidekick.

Why I love it: I especially love the large front pocket  ideal for holding your phone, keys, transit cards, or wallet. I also love that the bag is both wide and tall, giving it great storage capacity.

The PPMC Touch

At Papa Pique et Maman Coud, we’re known for our boldness and creativity. We love to add a little something special to all our creations – our signature touch of whimsy…

So, I let my imagination run wild while still respecting the full sewing tutorial from Petit Patron and giving myself only one rule: have fun using our coated fabrics sold by the meter.

My tips & tricks to personalize your Malo bag:

  • I used coated fabric to make the bag more rigid and durable.

  • I combined two different fabrics to highlight the front pocket and add a pop of color!

  • I created my own custom blue straps by sewing a golden ribbon on them – a touch of wow that really complements the bronze in the navy coated fabric.

And you – what personal touch will you bring to your fabric bag?

We can’t wait to see your creations!
