02 97 59 14 23During the first wave of Covid, the demand for protective masks literally skyrocketed. We quickly joined the local production effort by donating fabric to sewing associations in Morbihan. Then, quite soon, we had to respond to the requests of our customers, disappointed that they couldn’t order masks in our pretty collection fabrics.
We immediately began looking for a local solution. How could we cut thousands of meters of fabric before sewing them in our workshops, without relying on our usual partners who were unreachable due to transport restrictions?
The solution came from an engineering school in Vannes, Morbihan: ICAM. Its teaching staff and students were able to meet our needs and cut very large quantities of fabric with laser precision. This is how our partnership with this nearby school was born, allowing us to sew masks or offer them as DIY kits on our website in record time.
Thanks to them, we became more responsive, and we are proud to work in short supply chains with a local business in Morbihan.
Last November, we extended this partnership with the Vannes school to cut our fabrics intended for making Furoshiki wraps. In line with our eco-responsible approach, this new product promises to reduce paper wrapping for Christmas or birthdays by replacing it with beautiful, reusable fabric packaging!
Over 10,000 pieces of fabric were cut in just three weeks before being sewn in our Saint-Philibert workshop. Our fabrics therefore traveled only a minimal distance before ending up under your Christmas tree. And this, in addition to making us proud, motivates us to continue developing our short supply chain production preferably local. We are committed to building a sustainable production network.
