Creating Brings Calm: The Benefits of Sewing

Camille, a sewing enthusiast and creator of the Instagram account @augredemestrouvailles, shares her passion for sewing with PPMC fabrics and the fabrics that inspire her creations:
 

I am very happy to be Papa Pique et Maman Coud’s ambassador this month. This brand has always been part of my story. As a child, I already wore the hair clips and accessories, and I remember very well visiting the La Baule shop with my parents. Even today, the brand is still with me: I’m lucky to have the Angers shop just a few minutes from home, and now I go there for my children.

There is something very beautiful in this idea of passing things on, of seeing objects and patterns travel through generations.
 

The fabrics and prints that make me melt? I especially love the brand’s classic and timeless patterns. Gingham, Oxford fabrics, floral prints… Some of them remind me directly of my childhood: the little ladybirds, the colourful fabrics we used to wear when we were young. They are true Proustian madeleines for me.

Sewing requires attention and precision.
 

Choosing your fabric, cutting the pieces carefully, following the lines, assembling… each step invites you to focus fully on what you are doing.
 

In those moments, the mind no longer wanders.
You are simply there, in the present moment.


That is why so many sewing enthusiasts describe sewing as a soothing activity.
It allows you to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with a simple, tangible gesture.
Creating then becomes a true pause in everyday life.

Sewing also has something deeply rewarding about it.

Starting with a piece of fabric and slowly seeing a pouch, a garment or an accessory appear brings great satisfaction.
 

You imagine, you choose, you assemble… and suddenly, the project takes shape.

This creative process brings a very special sense of accomplishment: that of having created something unique.
